Avid Tri-Align brakes are one of the best cantilever brake sets for come out of the 90’s. To this day they are coveted by collectors if they have all of the parts.
The first generation of Tri-Align came with stainless steel sleeves that were glued to the brake bosses on the bikes frame or fork. The system worked fine however when people removed the brakes they would accidentally leave the sleeves glued on the frame.
Specialty Retro Products has developed replacement sleeves for your Avid Tri-Align I brakes. These can only be used on the first generation for these brakes. They will not work on the Avid Tri-Align II (2). You can tell the difference between the I and II by the sleeves, springs and arms. The Tri-Align I sleeve have a hex shape on the bottom, the arm where the sleeve sits is much shorter and the spring has only 2 coils. See photo for details.

Sleeves should always be replaced in pairs. You should never mix old and new sleeves or you will get un-even tension side to side on your brakes (Mixing front to back is okay) .
