Is your Judy damper constantly blown out because you still have an early damper with the soft plastic body? We can fix that with our Hardbody. Our Hardbody replaces the early plastic Judy bodies with an aluminum tube. We offer them as complete kits with seals and oil or just the tubes for those weekend worriers.
First you will need to remove the damper from your Judy to confirm if yours has the plastic body (see our damper rebuild instruction sheet under the downloads section for instructions). The easiest way to tell the plastic bodies is the 4 faint ribs running the length of them as well as the 4 point cross pattern on the closed end (see example photo). You will also need to re-use your existing damper shaft assembly. There are 3 different types of assemblies (see example photo) and our body is designed to work with them all. Now check and make sure that your piston and shaft are in good working condition before you order your new Hardbody. Check and make sure the shaft itself is not scratched, pitted or corroded (see example photo) as that can cause oil to leak. Also make sure that your valve and spring are not corroded and deteriorating as that will severely impact the performance (see example photo).
Our Hardbody is available in two lengths. You will need to measure the overall length of your shaft assembly from end to end to confirm which body size is correct for you.
-overall shaft length 195mm/7.75” and under should use the 107mm Hardbody.
-overall shaft length 210mm/8.25” and over should use the 120mm Hardbody.
These body lengths have nothing to do with the travel of your fork. You will not get more suspension travel if you “upgrade” to the longer tube. The overall damper shaft length is what determines the travel of the fork.
Hardbody only includes:
1 – Aluminum tube (107mm or 120mm length)
